The Energy Labelling Regulation 2023/1669 requires that smartphones and tablets display information on their energy efficiency, battery longevity, protection from dust and water and resistance to accidental drops. The value of the Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) is used for the identification of the energy labelling class to which the product belongs to. In order to support manufacturers and market surveillance authorities, the Commission intends to develop through an outsourcing procedure a tool/application for the calculation of the EEI, in line with the requirements laid down under Regulation 2023/1669.
