In cooperation with the National Archives, the Anno Museum has developed the Regional History Centre Domkirkeodden. This means constructing a museum building that shall also house the governmental historical archive material from Innlandet. The building will also provide rooms for i.a. new exhibition areas, libraries, restaurants and offices, as well as contribute to connecting the entire museum area at Domkirkeodden. The building will give Anno Domkirkeodden the opportunity to offer a all-year open museum. This is a national pilot project to integrate management, research and dissemination of government archive material with a regional museum and is a realisation of government ambitions for the cultural heritage sector. The museum already has two distinctive buildings in Norwegian architectural history - the Storhamar barn designed by Sverre Fehn and the Hamardomen listed building designed by Lund + Slaatto. In autumn 2021 an open international architect competition was held for the new museum building. The Danish architectural office ALL won the competition with the project "Shelter". The museum is under construction and shall be handed over from the turnkey contractor November 2025.
