Voor de beoogde toepassingen is een combinatie nodig van high-throughput long-read sequencing, directe uitlezing van native DNA, real-time datageneratie, methylatiedetectie uit dezelfde ruwe data, ondersteuning voor adaptive sampling en parallelle inzet van een groot aantal flow cells. Deze combinatie van technische eigenschappen is op dit moment uitsluitend beschikbaar binnen het PromethION platform van Oxford Nanopore Technologies. 1
