Forestry, Land Use, and Value Chains Development (FORLAND) is a collaborative effort betweenFinland and Tanzania built upon the outcome of FORVAC and PFP to promote sustainable forestryand economic growth in Tanzania. The programme focuses on community-based forestmanagement, plantation forestry, and value chain development. Combining FORVAC and PFP,FORLAND aims to improve upon the outcomes of both initiativesThe Forestry and Wood IndustriesTraining Centre (FWITC) in Mafinga serves as the project’s central innovation hub, training centre, anddemonstration facility. Strengthening FWITC will involve upgrading equipment, developing newengineered wood products, and enhancing institutional capacity to support SME technologyuptake.As part of the FWITC upgrades, a new primary processing factory building will be constructedto provide covered industrial space for heavy log breakdown and timber processing machinery.
