CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL “CITY KVART” PODGORICA, MONTENEGRO

The project aims to increase children’s access to high-quality early childhood care and education in pre-primary institutions, as well as to improve learning conditions for students in primary and secondary (general and vocational) schools.
The primary school in City Kvart has been conceived as a contemporary educational facility, designed in accordance with principles of openness, flexibility, and strong integration with the local community. The design focuses on creating a stimulating environment that supports children’s learning and everyday activities, while also enabling a gradual transformation of the traditional model of primary education.
The building is situated in the central zone of the upper part of the urban plot, within an urban fabric that allows for easy connectivity with the wider neighbourhood.
The architectural concept is based on a modular and dynamic spatial organization, allowing for clear functional zoning while maintaining flexibility in the use of space. The school is designed as a freestanding structure consisting of a basement, ground floor, and two upper floors. Its central placement on the site ensures optimal orientation, accessibility, and functional efficiency from all directions.
The total net area of the school is 6,980.49 m², and the maximum duration of the works is 18 months, followed by a 12-month defects notification period.
