Design and Construction of Extension & Upgrade of Alexandria West Wastewater Treatment Plant

This International Invitation for Pre-qualification relates to design, construction, operation and maintenance for “Alexandria West Wastewater Treatment Plant Extension and Upgrade Project”.
The design capacity of the Alexandria West WWTP is 462,000 m3 /d, currently receiving an inflow of about 340,000 to 410,000 m³/d. The plant only provides primary treatment with primary sludge dewatering.
The works covered under this contract, under FIDIC Yellow Book, regards the refurbishment of existing facilities, as well as the construction of new facilities to upgrade the level of treatment to secondary (biological) treatment level with sludge digestion, sludge hydrolysis and biogas generation. The works envisaged will enable the achievement of the National effluent standards. Total capacity of the plant will be increased from around 462,000 m³/day to 600,000 m3/day.
The Contractor shall commission and operate the complete AWWWTP (both primary and secondary stages) for the duration of two years within the Defects Notification Period (DNP)..
This contract is expected to commence in Q4 2025 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 30 months for Implementation and 24 months for defect notification period
