Locomotive fleet retrofit and engineering solutions for DAC (and ERTMS)

The outcome of this tender should deliver sufficient and complete information for installing full Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC) equipment on a locomotive type, consisting of couplers, e-couplers, data/ communication system and power auxiliary unit for providing energy across a DAC train. With this call for tenders the EU-Rail wants to shape a technological solution to apply the newly designed mechanical and electrical coupler, data systems and energy supply to existing (shunting) locomotive fleet. The action to be procured will involve the research, analysis, development of engineering solutions, and possibly testing for a limited number of locomotive types to enable DAC and European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) retrofitting
